Building a Kitchen

As mentioned elsewhere, at first we only wanted a fridge.  I thought it might be nice to have a sink so we could wash dishes, but I could do without it.  When we discovered that propane was the best way to go for the fridge we decided that we might as well put in a full kitchen.  Ben built the cabinets out of oak.  We put in a fridge, furnace, stove and sink.

Next, Ben finished the cabinets with spar varnish and installed the appliances.  We had the propane tank professionally installed.

Ben found pre-finished counter top at Home Depot.  AMAZING!  He had luckily made the cabinet the exact width needed to use the counter top!  The sink was the only thing left to add.   I saw a simple sink set up with jugs on a camper van site.   We modified the original to fit around the wheel wells in the van.  The waste water goes in the short square jug in back.  The jug rests on a shelf built over the wheel well.  The tall jug in front holds the fresh water.
